Barbara earned her PhD in Marketing, funded by Scottish Enterprise, at the University of Strathclyde where she worked as a Lecturer for several years. Since 2011 she has been Professor of Marketing at ESSCA School of Management and obtained her Habilitation (HDR) from the Sorbonne in 2014.
Her research focuses in the main on service performance management and its application to franchising, entrepreneurial, sales and branding contexts. Barbara’s work is published in journals such as the Journal of Small Business Management, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, International Marketing Review and Academy of Management Learning and Education. She presents at conferences including the AMA, AMS, WMC and EMAC.
Being a consultant for public and private sector bodies, her studies have a clear managerial focus. She has conducted several knowledge exchange projects with organisations such as the Institute of Customer Service, Glasgow City Council and the French Franchise Association (FFF). Barbara also has several years of work experience in the advertising industry where she worked in account management and strategic planning for networks such as DDB and the BBDO.
